Most executives believe that if they provide the AI with enough data, it will eventually find the truth. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of the Socio-Technical Gap.
Speaking in the AI context, Information Dissonance is a phenomenon that can occur when the technical velocity of an AI system outpaces the organizational agreement on what the data actually means. When your LLM generates a "Churn Report" in seconds, but Finance and Sales have different SQL definitions for "Churn," you haven't gained insight. You have simply automated a contradiction.

My research on Business Intelligence maturity shows that Executive Sponsorship and Governance-as-Trust are stronger predictors of ROI than the technology stack itself. Without a unified Semantic Layer, AI agents become "Helpful Idiots." They process data with incredible speed but zero contextual accuracy. The dissonance isn't a "bug" in the code; it is a failure of the Decision Architecture.

When leading data strategy, you should not start with the AI interface. Started with the Sub-surface Governance. Focused on 3NF Foundations and Metric-as-Code via dbt. Why? Because an Agent is only as effective as the "plumbing" it drinks from. If you haven't resolved the logic contradictions in your data warehouse, your AI pilot will never leave the tarmac.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁’𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁
Before approving your next AI budget increase, conduct this 60-second audit:
1. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲: Do you have a code-based Semantic Layer that acts as the single source of truth for your Agents?
2. 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰: Can the Agent explain the logic of its calculation, or is it just predicting the next token?
3. 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: Are you asking the AI to "fix" a broken schema, or are you providing it a governed estate to query?
𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Fix the dissonance before you scale the AI.
